Auto components firm says added floor space, new technical centre will create 62 jobs west of Toronto

KITCHENER, Ont.—Ontario-based manufacturer Mitchell Plastics is preparing to kick off a $13.4 million expansion project at its headquarters and manufacturing plant in Kitchener, Ont.

The company, which makes a range of parts for the auto industry, plans to add 79,000 square-feet of floor space at the facility, as well as set up a new technical centre to focus on research and development. With a particular emphasis on producing interior car parts, the product development centre will include new equipment for UV coating and UV injet printing.

The project is expected to create 62 new jobs at the plant over the next four years.

To help leverage the private investment, the Ontario government has agreed to contribute $1.5 million in funding through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund.
