Plastics producer to receive $780,000 from province, create 16 new jobs

BELLEVILLE, Ont.—The Canadian subsidiary of global packaging company Berry Plastics Group is looking to expand with an approximately $7.8 million investment.

The Belleville, Ont. facility plans to buy new technology that will help it increase its production. Using private funds, as well as a $780,000 provincial investment, made through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, Berry Plastics Canada expects to double production of stretch films used in the food and dairy industries.

“Berry Plastics is an important part of Ontario’s manufacturing base, and an important employer in the region,” Lou Rinaldi, MPP for Northumberland-Quinte West, said. “Our government is proud to work as a proactive partner with the province’s key industries to promote job creation and business growth.”

The expansion will create 16 jobs while retaining 50 others.
