Set to launch in late September, Honda's mid-size sedan carries a starting price below $24,000
MARKHAM, Ont.—Let the mid-size battles begin.
With the hotly contested mid-size sedan market picking up steam, Honda Canada is looking to stake its claim with the launch of the 2013 Accord.
Carrying a starting price tag below $24,000 for the first time in eight years, the Accord sedan will hit Canadian showroom floors Sept. 24, with the brethren coupe following on its heels Nov. 1.
A new, top-of-line, Accord Touring V6 sedan model featuring all the bells and whistles will be available for a little more than $35,000.
“This ninth-generation Accord will once again raise the bar with new Honda powertrain and safety technologies that will ensure the all-new Accord continues to lead in fuel economy, safety and fun-to-drive performance,” Honda Canada executive vice-president Jerry Chenkin said in a statement.
The new sedan will include the first North American application of Honda’s next-generation 2.4-litre direct-injected 4-cylinder engine, according to the automaker, with an optional V6 available.
Fuel efficiency is the best ever for an Accord, Honda claims, with four-cylinder models offering up to an estimated 5.5 litres/100-kilometres highway.
The V6 model boasts an estimated 5.7 litres/100-kilometres on the highway.
In the summer of 2013, Honda says it plans to launch an all-new two-motor 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) sedan.
