Vancouver Island Ferry Company reveals first look at new vessels

NANAIMO — The Vancouver Island Ferry Company (VIFC) says that Hullo will be the service brand behind British Columbia’s high-speed, passenger-only catamarans that will travel between downtown Nanaimo and downtown Vancouver. This new service will enable Islanders and Mainlanders alike to reach across the strait and increasing visitation opportunities. Apr. 19’s event marks the beginning of construction and site reconfiguration, which includes over 400 parking stalls, EV charging stations, connected travel options, a guest welcome centre, and proper traffic and transit flow optimizations. General Service Details for Hullo:
Hullo will offer a daily crossing schedule starting with up to seven (7) roundtrip sailings. Starting early enough for island commuters to get to their downtown Vancouver offices.
Hullo’s initial fleet consists of two Damen-built, high-speed catamaran vessels, each with a capacity of 354 passengers, and supported by a long-term local maintenance solution to ensure their reliability.
VIFC has secured long term partnerships with Snuneymuxw First Nation, the Nanaimo Port Authority and the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre and to ensure sustainable, continued success.
