ALMONTE, Ont.—An Ontario sports equipment and seating manufacturer is scaling up its facility southwest of Ottawa as part of an approximately $1.4 million project to increase its product range and grow its exports.
Sport Systems Canada, which makes and installs bleachers, basketball nets, gym dividers and a range of similar products, expects the expansion to create 10 new jobs in Almonte, Ont.
Canadian schools, universities and municipalities are currently among Sports Systems’ top customers, but the company expects the project to help it push further into global markets.
The province is backing the project with a $180,500 contribution, while Sport Systems will invest approximately $1.2 million.
“This support will help us scale up our manufacturing capabilities, expand our and grow our international presence to remain competitive in this dynamic industry,” Jeff Hurle, the company’s vice-president and general manager, said in a statement.
