PRESCOTT, Ont.—Italy-based telecom and power cable manufacturer Prysmian Group is expanding its plant in Prescott, Ont.

The company plans to invest a total of nearly $6.2 million in the project.

The work includes upgrades at Prysmian’s Prescott facility—south of Ottawa and a stone’s throw from the U.S. border—that will boost the site’s productivity and increase its capacity. The project will also add 15 new jobs at the plant, which currently has 197 on payroll.

Prysmian will contribute approximately $5.5 million to the project, while the provincial government will invest another $616,600 through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund.

The company expects to complete the upgrades by the end of 2019.
