BluMetric wins $1M contract to build water treatment system at Ontario mine

Cleantech firm has also inked $1.2 million in deals to carry out environmental engineering work in all three Canadian territories
OTTAWA—BluMetric Environmental Inc. has disclosed $2.2 million in new contracts for infrastructure work in Ontario and several other projects across northern Canada.
The largest deal will see the Ottawa-based environmental engineering company design and install a $1 million water treatment system for a Northern Ontario gold mine.
Built for Harte Gold Corp.’s Sugar Zone Project near Hemlo, Ont.—midway between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, Ont.—the system will treat ammonia using a resin exchange system alongside more-conventional water treatment methods.
“The Harte Gold project fits precisely into our strategy of developing situationally tailored mine-water treatment systems for use in challenging environments that are often compounded by complex water chemistry,” Dan Scroggins, BluMetric’s vice-president of Research and Innovation, said in a statement.
The cleantech firm will start work on the project immediately and expects to commission the system next spring.
Meanwhile, BluMetric also said it has won just shy of $1.2 million in new contracts in Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon. The company released few of the details, but said the slew of deals includes work on environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, waste management and building assessment and remediation projects.
