Already established in the entertainment business, company will push into the niche audio equipment market
KINGSTON, Ont.—An eastern Ontario manufacturer that got its start making high-quality paint for artists, is continuing to branch out.
Tri-Art Manufacturing Inc., which operates a 30,000 square-foot plant in Kingston, Ont. is planning a nearly $1 million expansion that will help it push further into the niche market for audio equipment such as turntables and speakers. To help boost production, the company will purchase new equipment and upgrade its manufacturing processes at its facility not far from the city’s downtown.
The Ontario government plans to contribute $140,000 to the project.
“This support will help us expand further into the audiovisual entertainment market, grow our business, and create good jobs in Kingston,” Stephen Ginsberg, the company’s president, said.
Along with artist paint and audio equipment, Tri-Art also makes a specialty paint that is used to turn virtually any paintable surface into a movie projection screen. The product is currently in use at screens around the world, including at Disney and Universal theme parks.
The expansion will create 10 jobs in Kingston.
