Fire and alarm systems company looking to keep up growth in Toronto area and beyond with acquisition

VAUGHAN, Ont.—The Mircom Group of Companies is looking to shore up its market share in the GTA with the acquisition of building fire detection, security and emergency lighting firm Durham Central Fire Systems (DCFS).

Announced May 31, Mircom expects the acquisition to create synergies at both firms, scaling up the companies’ capacity to serve clients in the Toronto area. The Vaughan, Ont. firm is best known as a manufacturer of fire detection equipment and alarms, as well as building communication systems.

“Mircom continues to expand its footprint in Canada and throughout the North American and International markets,” Mark Falbo, the company’s president, said. “Durham Central Fire Systems has been a strong market participant in the GTA and Mircom is pleased to have them join as part of our organization.”

DCFS has participated in numerous mixed-use projects, including work on the Trump International Hotel & Tower, Shangri La Hotel and Maple Leafs Square. The company’s current president, John Sproviero, will join Mircom as branch sales manager for the GTA.
