Train derailment in Vancouver suburb

NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C.—Southern Railway crews are dealing with a derailed train in New Westminster.
Police say it happened at around 4:30 a.m. this morning on the 300-block of Front Street where the tracks cross the road.
All of Front Street is closed to traffic until further notice.
Police did not immediately provide details on the seriousness of the derailment or what cargo the train was carrying.
Southern Railway is a major freight transporter in B.C.’s Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, serving shippers of automobile, forest, building, agricultural, chemical and steel products.
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
