Oregon transit system to replace part of aging fleet with new vehicles

WINNIPEG—New Flyer of America Inc. the U.S. subsidiary of Canadian bus manufacturer New Flyer Industries Inc. has won a firm US$3.19 million order for five Xcelsior XDE40 buses.

Lane Transit District, which operates public transit lines in and around Eugene, Oregon will add the handful of buses to its fleet, replacing aging vehicles with the newer, more fuel efficient buses. In addition to the firm order, the agreement includes options for as many as 70 more 40-foot or 60-foot Xcelsior buses over the next five years.

Running on diesel-electric propulsion, New Flyer said it is confident the XDE40 will help Lane Transit reach its sustainability initiatives.

The Winnipeg-based bus manufacturer has sold 36 buses to the Oregon transit system since 2004.
