DALLAS—With the North American market for pickups firing on all cylinders, General Motors has offered a first look at the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado.
The automaker unveiled the 2019 version of the truck in Dallas this weekend as it marked the 100-year anniversary of Chevy Trucks.
Chevy said the redesigned flagship Silverado will incorporate a number of new advanced materials that will slash the truck’s overall weight and improve its performance over its predecessor. It pointed to a higher grade steel alloy in the truck’s bed floor as one specific area that’s been improved.
The company plans to offer eight different versions of the truck with different engine and transmission combinations, along with a long list of other features.
GM said the 2019 Silverado will make a more complete debut next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
