Site shut down after 21-year-old worker reportedly killed by construction lift

SASKATOON—A 21-year-old worker has died after a heavy steel construction lift reportedly fell on him at the new Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan site.

Emergency crews were called to the construction site, adjacent to Royal University Hospital, the afternoon of July 21.

The fire department says MD Ambulance paramedics were giving him CPR when firefighters arrived on scene.

Graham Construction issued a news release Thursday saying the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Occupational Health and Safety crews responded alongside emergency workers.

Graham Construction says the worksite has been shut down while the investigation is ongoing.
