Melonee Wise, CEO, Fetch Robotics

Industrial mobile robots are making things easier to move in the manufacturing and logistics spaces — and they’re doing it quickly. ARC Advisory Group says that autonomous mobile robots in particular are one of the fastest-growing markets it has ever researched.

That’s why for the past several years, the Association for Advancing Automation’s Robotics Standards Development Committee has been working on a new ANSI standard for mobile robot safety.

R15.08 Part 1, a type-C standard, debuted earlier this year and features technical requirements for the design and manufacture of industrial mobile robots. A3 will be publishing more detailed requirements for integrators and users in R15.08 Parts 2 and 3, which are still to come.
