TORONTO — Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network have announced their year-end sales results. The company reported that in 2021, Mercedes-Benz Canada delivered sales of 36,240 passenger vehicles and vans, with 31,243 representing passenger cars and luxury light trucks.

Compared to 2020, these totals represent a 2.4 per cent increase in overall sales and a 3.4 per cent increase in passenger car and luxury light truck sales.

According to a company statement, Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network team worked throughout 2021 to ensure that every dealership could protect customer and employee health while serving clients. The company also stated that despite the challenging circumstances and ongoing global supply constraints, customer demand remained strong.

Mercedes Benz reported that in 2021, SUVs continued to make up the majority of overall sales, with a total of 22,572 units retailed, compared to 8,671 passenger cars. This means that in 2021, SUVs accounted for 72 per cent of Mercedes-Benz Canada sales, compared to 28 per cent for passenger cars.

The company also stated that the refined GLE SUV was the top-selling vehicle of the year. The GLB SUV saw a purchase rate of over 56.3 per cent compared to 2020. The company reported significant demand for the G-Wagon, for which it met with increased supply of more than 47.8 per cent compared to 2020.

Mercedes Benz also reported that the C-Class sedan remained the top-selling passenger car model including the A-Class sedan and CLA. Mercedes-Benz Canada also announced that some of its nameplates saw sales increases, including the all-new flagship S-Class sedan at 29.1 per cent compared to 2020.
