With only a few tests remaining, the long-delayed aircraft expected to clear regulator by year's end
“The success of this historic C Series aircraft test program is a testament to the hard work and dedication from the teams that designed, developed, built and tested the C Series aircraft over the last few years,” Fred Cromer, president of the company’s Commercial Aircraft division, said.
The Montreal-based firm received a $1 billion investment in its CSeries program from the government of Quebec late last month, and is slated to deliver its first CS100 aircraft to SWISS in the first half of next year.
The aircraft entered function and reliability testing with a four-leg flight through Atlantic Canada Nov. 7. F+R testing will continue between approximately 35 cities across North American before similar testing will take place to Europe.
“Airfield performance, landings, airport turnarounds and on-ground operations are just some of the important characteristics that will be observed during the F&R testing,” Rob Dewar, vice-president if the C Series Aircraft Program, said.
In addition to the update about its CS100, Bombardier also announced Latvia-based airBaltic will be the first customer to operate the company’s CS300, which is slated for deliveries in the second-half of 2016.
