Man put through decontamination station to remove chemical before being rushed to hospital

TORONTO—An explosion at a Toronto chemical plant sent a worker to hospital with burns to his lower legs.

Toronto fire crews arrived on the scene Feb. 16 to find a man covered in a black substance after a 30-litre container exploded.

The worker was put through a decontamination station to remove the chemical before being rushed to hospital.

Fire crews were on the scene to ensure seven other employees at the east-end facility were safe, and a city transit bus was called in to give them shelter.
