Cleantech firm wins $2.5M groundwater monitoring deal with Vale

OTTAWA—Vale Canada Ltd. has awarded an Ottawa-based clean technology firm a $2.5-million environmental engineering services contract extension for groundwater monitoring and reporting at a trio of sites across Ontario.

According to BluMetric Environmental Inc., it was awarded the two-year contract extension for semi-annual monitoring and reporting for more than 1,000 wells in Sudbury, Shebandowan and Port Colborne, Ont.

“I am pleased at this evidence of the effectiveness of our client service focus and corporate growth strategies,” BluMetric chief executive Roger Woeller said in a statement.

“We have built this business by evolving our skill sets and services in response to client needs. This contract demonstrates that this approach remains an essential component of our overall strategy and forms a strong base for our other growth initiatives.”

BluMetric said part of the contract will see the company create a fully graphical database package that will allow Vale to manage all of its groundwater and surface-water data.

The company will also help Vale with obtaining permits to take water and related compliance monitoring and reporting.

Based in Ottawa, the cleantech firm specializes in water and wastewater treatment, as well as environmental engineering, renewable energy and site remediation.
