OTTAWA — CCC announces that it was awarded a $15.78 million (USD) contract by the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center to deliver Aircraft Ship Integrated Securing and Traversing (ASIST) Systems manufactured and assembled by INDAL Technologies Inc., a business unit of Curtiss-Wright Corporation.

Based in Mississauga, Ontario, INDAL is involved in manufacturing shipboard helicopter handling systems, undersea sensor handling, and ship aviation support systems for defence programs. In addition to supplying the U.S Navy with the ASIST system, CCC and INDAL have partnered on many contracts with the U.S. military worth nearly $300 million (CAD) for hardware components, equipment, and systems like Indal’s RAST (Recovery Assist, Secure and Traverse) shipboard system for helicopters.

Currently used by the Chilean Navy, the Republic of Singapore Navy, and the Turkish Navy, and on order by Canada, Spain and Australia, INDAL’s ASIST system is a free-deck landing system that enables helicopter landings to be made solely by the pilot. During descent, ASIST’s precision Helicopter Position Sensing Equipment (HPSE) system continuously tracks and monitors the exact position of the aircraft, relative to the designated landing area and displays it to the pilot through a series of visual landing cues.

CCC is the designated contracting authority for purchases by the U.S. DoD from Canada worth $250,000 (USD) or more. Through its free U.S. DoD Prime Contractor service, CCC partners with Canadian businesses like Indal to supply the U.S. DoD with made in Canada solutions and facilitate U.S. DoD buying commands to procure from Canada.
