Macro buys pipeline services business for $16.25 million

The all cash deal covers the assets of North American Pipeline Inc. and North American Fleet Co. Ltd.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C.—Wholly-owned subsidiaries of Macro Enterprises Inc. have acquired pipeline services business from Edmonton-based North American Energy Partners Inc.

The $16.25-million cash deal covers the assets of North American Pipeline Inc. and North American Fleet Company Ltd. It includes a master services agreement with a major pipeline company to test and maintain its pipeline network.

The lines of business cover constructing, installing, maintaining, testing and repairing pipelines and facilities in the oil and gas industry throughout Western Canada as well as assets used in carrying out the business, including pipeline construction machinery and equipment.

Based in Calgary, Macro’s core business is providing pipeline and facilities construction and maintenance services to major companies in the oil and gas industry in northeastern BC and northwestern Alberta.

From its head office in Acheson, Alta., North American Energy Partners Inc. provides heavy construction, mining, piling and pipeline services in Western Canada. It is servicing in The Athabasca Oil sands joint venture and the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion, amongst other high-profile resource projects.
