FedEx buys French courier firm TATEX

Company produces approximately EUR 150-million in revenues annually, according to FedEx

Memphis, Tenn.—FedEx has completed the acquisition of French business-to-business express transportation company TATEX.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to FedEx, the acquisition gives the company access to a domestic ground network across France which carries 19-million shipments and produces approximately EUR 150-million in revenues annually.

FedEx has been steadily broadening its European network.

The announcement follows on the heels of the recent acquisition of Opek, a Polish courier company with 1,200 employees and a network of 44 stations.

In the fiscal year of 2012, FedEx opened 38 new stations across Europe, launched five B757 flights on intra-European routes, and another B777 for long-haul routes, bringing the total number of B777s operating FedEx routes in and out of Europe to four.

FedEx has been operating in the French market since 1985.
