A recent poll conducted by ICMA International and sponsored by Randstad Canada asked Canadians what they thought were the best sectors for employment.
TORONTO—Engineering and construction sector was voted the most desirable of all sectors by 48 per cent of voters for long-term job security and working atmosphere, according to a recent poll conducted by ICMA International and sponsored by Randstad Canada.
The survey of 7,000 Canadians identified “high tech manufacturing” as the second-most desirable sector to work in, with 47.5 per cent rating it highest in competitive salary, interesting job content, career progression opportunities, good training, work-life balance and strong management.
Transport and Logistics (46.4%), Raw Materials (42.6%) and Services (41.9%) were also listed as desirable sectors to work in by Canadians.
“Demand for employment candidates among our clients in the Engineering and Construction sector increased 18.43% in the first quarter of 2012 over Q1 2011,” said Mike Winterfield, president of Randstad Professionals.
“This boost in the Engineering and Construction sector renders an undeniable need for experienced and talented professionals to power up the industry,” said Winterfield, who noted the greatest demand was for Construction management, electrical estimators, industrial designers and project managers.
