CATL and Ford work together to promote EVs worldwide

NINGDE — Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. and Ford Motor Company have announced a non-binding MOU outlining Global Strategic Cooperation including supplying batteries in China, Europe and North America.
Under separate agreements, CATL will also provide full LFP battery packs for North American Mustang Mach-E models starting next year as well as North American F-150 Lightnings in early 2024.
CTP is a technology that integrates cells into packs, which CATL says works to improve system energy density and simplify manufacturing. Ford’s EV architecture allows incorporation of CATL’s prismatic CTP (cell-to-pack) technology, delivering incremental capacity to scale.
The two companies plan to explore new business opportunities worldwide. In addition to supplying LFP-based CTP batteries to Ford, CATL intends to actively cooperate with Ford with respect to other battery technologies.
Together these companies have said their goal is to open new opportunities for themselves while creating a sustainable business and promote electric vehicles, which they believe will contribute to carbon neutrality goals.
