All employees of the airline must be fully vaccinated by Oct. 30, and new hires must also be fully vaccinated.

Air Canada is implementing a new mandatory vaccination policy that will require all of its employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to report their vaccination status as of Oct. 30, 2021.

In addition, the airline is making full vaccination a condition of employment for any individual hired by the company.

“The decision to require all employees of Air Canada mainline, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Vacations to be fully vaccinated and report their vaccination status is another initiative to ensure the safety and well-being of all employees and customers,” Air Canada officials said in an Aug. 25 news release. “Under the mandatory vaccination policy, testing will not be offered as an alternative.”

Employees that refuse to follow the new policy will either be put on unpaid leave or terminated. Exceptions will be made only for employees with “valid reasons” for remaining unvaccinated, Air Canada said, such as medical conditions.
