Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions grants $795,300 to two manufacturing businesses

The fund will provide help to manufacturing SMEs in their modernization efforts.
RIMOUSKI — On Feb. 9, Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament for Gaspésie‒Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, announced financial support through repayable contributions to Industries Desjardins ltée and Multi-Électronique inc.
Details on the assistance provided under the Regional Economic Growth through Innovation program are as follows:
- Les Industries Desjardins, $681,000. CED’s assistance will enable the Saint-André business to acquire and install production equipment and to complete factory improvement and fitting–out work. This project, which aims for enhanced productivity and the pursuit of growth, will lead to the creation of one job.
- Multi-Électronique, $114,300. CED’S assistance will enable the Rimouski business to acquire electronic components, cabling and gear and to cover a portion of professional fees. This project, which aims to ensure growth, involves work to develop a hydrographic platform—an innovative product—and will lead to the creation of one job.
The manufacturing industry is a major contributor to Quebec’s economic growth, providing many jobs. It represents a key link in regional economic development. With this support, the Government of Canada commits to preparing the way for after the pandemic to rebuild a stronger, more resilient and more just economy for all.
