Geyser Brands Inc. announced that it has finished formulation and production of alcohol-free hand sanitizer that uses natural ingredients to fight against germs and bacteria.
Apothecary Naturals “Hand Sanitizer” is produced in a Health Canada approved site-licensed location in Coquitlam, BC.
As a protective measure against the coronavirus, the World Health Organization (WHO) advises to, among other things, “wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use hand cleaner if your hands are not visibly dirty.”
“Our hand sanitizer is scent free so many hospitals or organizations and customers don’t have to worry about perfumes or scented oils. The active ingredients kill 99.99% of the germs.” said Apothecary Naturals CEO Brad Kersch in a prepared statement. “In response to surging interest in natural wellness products worldwide, this product is yet another of our innovations designed to promote health and wellness with a focus on natural ingredients.”
In an interview with Canadian Manufacturing, Kuldip Gill, Geyser’s head of R&D, explained that while alcohol-based hand sanitizer is still a good option, it is recommended to alternate between the alcohol and non-alcohol based sanitizers.
“After a while ,using an alcohol-based product not dries your skin, the bacteria also becomes stubborn and it nullifies,” Gill said in an interview with Canadian Manufacturing.
“Benzalkonium Chloride, the active ingredient is also used as a biocide on vegetables, fruits is used in eye solutions, contact gram solutions, so it’s quite safe to use.”
Gill also shared that Tea Tree oil is used in the alcohol-free solution, as it kills several common bacteria and viruses responsible for causing illness.
The product will come in four sizes: 10ml personal use, 60ml personal use, 150ml foam family pump version, and a 250ml refill.
The products will be available direct to consumer through the website and at leading retailers across Canada.
