Feds invest $2.8M in expansion projects at four Quebec manufacturers

The government funds are expected to spur total investments of $16 million in the province's Mauricie region
SAINT-TITE, Que.—A Quebec bioproducts firm, two metal manufacturers and a craft brewery are scaling up their operations with the help of the federal government.
The Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, or CED, has committed $2.8 million in federal loans for the expansion projects, spurring a total investment of about $16 million in the province’s Mauricie region.
The work is expected boost the production capacity of all four firms and create approximately 50 jobs.
The four companies scaling up their operations:
Cleantech startup Xylo-Carbone Inc., which is working on technology to create bioproducts from low-grade roundwood residues, is launching operations with a $7.6 million project. The funds, including a $1.2 million federal contribution, will go toward a new production plant.
ADF Diesel Saint-Stanislas Inc. is spending $4 million to expand its manufacturing plant and buy new equipment. The auto supplier will get nearly $1 million from Ottawa for the expansion.
Craft brewer À la fût, coop de travail brassicole has bought land next to its current site to expand its facility and build a new production room. The total cost of the project is approximately $2.7 million with the CED contributing $500,000.
Finally, Acier Rayco (2016) Inc., which makes metal parts for infrastructure projects, is expanding its plant and buying new production equipment as part of a $1.7 million scale-up project. The federal government has loaned the company $169,000 to support the work.
