Metal fabricator in Port Hope, Ont. scaling up with $1.3M expansion

The company plans to add 10 new jobs at its plant east of Toronto as it works toward pushing into the U.S. market
PORT HOPE, Ont.—A metal fabricator that recently relocated to a new facility in Port Hope, Ont. is adding a second manufacturing line as it scales up its new operation.
Trade Tech Industries, which currently fabricates both steel and aluminum on a single line, is spending approximately $1.3 million to install a dedicated aluminum line at the plant.
The company manufactures structural steel as well as aluminum and stainless steel parts for the construction industry. It recently relocated to Port Hope from nearby Bowmanville.
Trade Tech said the investment in new technology will help it diversify its product lineup as it works to push into the U.S. market. The project will also create 10 new jobs at the plant.
Along with a company investment of about $1.1 million, the Ontario government has committed $173,900 to the expansion. The province said the work is expected to be fully complete by 2022.
