Canadian printing company continues to pivot toward packaging with third industry acquisition in as many years
MONTREAL—Continuing to press into the packaging industry, TC Transcontinental Inc. has announced a deal to acquire Lenexa, Kansas-based Robbie Manufacturing Inc.
The media and printing company’s third acquisition in the space in as many years, Transcontinental says the agreement will allow it to push further into the packaging market and create synergy opportunities with its nearby facilities in the U.S.
“This acquisition is great news for the ongoing development of our flexible packaging division, an important area of growth for the Corporation,” François Olivier, the company’s president and CEO, said.
Robbie Manufacturing, which employs 175 people, makes flexible packaging, mainly for grocery stores and food processors.
Transcontinental did not disclose the value of the acquisition, but said the Midwest U.S. company posted revenue of US$50 million in its most recent fiscal year.
The deal follows the Montreal-based company’s purchase of Capri Packaging in 2014 and its 2015 acquisition of Ultra Flex Packaging Corp.
