After 40 years of distributing the iconic brand in Canada, Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada is relinquishing the reins

CONCORD, Ont.—Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada will transition distribution of Harley-Davidson products to the mother company’s new subsidiary, Harley-Davidson Canada, in an agreement with Harley-Davidson Motor Co.

Harley-Davidson wants to align its Canadian business model with its strategy in the rest of the world and is shifting to a model of direct distribution to independently-owned dealers in Canada by July 31, 2017, when the Company’s current agreement with Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada ends.

Both companies were also in discussions about a possible agreement to speed up the transition in Canadian operations to the third quarter of this year.

“Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada will continue to operate business as usual and will maintain the high level of support for the Canadian network of Harley-Davidson Retailers until the opening of the new subsidiary, Harley‑Davidson Canada, on or about August 4, 2015,” said Don James, chairman & CEO of Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada.
