Bombardier aiming for longer maintenance check intervals in new CSeries line

Considering maintenance, base maintenance checks at 850, 8,500 flight hours, respectively
MUNICH, Germany—Global aerospace giant Bombardier says its looking to extend the maintenance check intervals of the soon-to-launch CSeries aircraft line.
Announced at its European Regional Review in the southern German city of Munich, the aircraft maker is considering maintenance checks—or ‘A’ checks—at intervals of 850 flight hours, and base maintenance checks—otherwise known as ‘C’ checks—at intervals of 8,500 flight hours.
According to spokesperson Mark Masluch, during early development stages Bombardier was aiming for intervals of 750 and 7,500 flight hours, respectively, for both ‘A’ and ‘C’ checks, but as the 2014 entry-into-service date approaches the firm is examining the possibility of extending those intervals.
The proposed maintenance plan would allow operators of CSeries aircraft to benefit from minimized downtime and more competitive maintenance costs, according to Bombardier.
It says maintenance task intervals in excess of the target hours is achievable.
Currently under development, the maintenance program for the CSeries aircraft would have to be submitted to a report to the proper authorities for acceptance prior to the CSeries line’s entry-into-service.
