ShawCor signs $30M pipeline coating deal with Statoil Norway

TORONTO—ShawCor Ltd. said its pipe coating division has signed a deal worth $30-million with Statoil Norway to provide pipeline coatings for the Edvard Grieg Oil Pipeline project and the Utsira High Gas Pipeline project.

The contract includes coating approximately 98 kilometres of 16-inch pipe and 46 kilometres of 29-inch pipe with a three-layer polypropylene anticorrosion coating, internal flow efficiency coating and concrete weight coating.

The work will be done by at the Bredero Shaw pipe coating facility in Scotland and start in the fourth quarter of this year.

The pipelines will carry oil and gas from the Edvard Grieg and Ivar Aasen fields in the North Sea.
