TORONTO—Aecon Group Inc. has won two contracts for work on natural gas compressor sites in Ontario and British Columbia with Union Gas Ltd. and U.S. transmission company Spectra Energy Corp.

Under the agreement with Union Gas, the Toronto-based construction and infrastructure company will build natural gas compressor facilities at three existing locations across southwestern Ontario as part of the company’s Dawn-Parkway Expansion Project. The deal is worth $250 million, and work is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of next year.

Meanwhile, Aecon has won a separate contract to take part in construction work at Spectra Energy compressor stations and related pipeline facilities throughout the company’s natural gas transmission system in British Columbia. Aecon did not disclose the value of the contract, but said the four-year agreement could lead to a recurring revenue contract.

The company’s president and CEO, Teri McKibbon, said the pair of energy industry contracts add to the company’s strong backlog as well as demonstrate its diversification across a range of industries.
