POINT TUPPER, N.S.—Nova Scotia Power says a new biomass-fueled plant in Cape Breton is expected to start generating electricity next month.
Roger Burton, the utility’s senior director of projects, says construction is now complete on the $183-million facility in Point Tupper.
Burton says the privately-owned utility is expected to buy roughly 500,000 tonnes of biomass fuel for the 60-megawatt plant.
He says the plant is expected to be fully operational in the summer once additional testing is done.
