Feds support organizations through 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Canada

The Government of Canada has provided approximately $4.3 million in funding to 47 organizations
GATINEAU, QUE. – On May 20, the federal government announced that it has provided approximately $4.3 million in funding to 47 organizations through the 2019-2020 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Funding Program.
The 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) presents a call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. To advance progress on the 2030 Agenda, the government is supporting Canadian organizations that are accelerating action on the SDGs.
“The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides the world with a common framework to tackle our most pressing challenges,” said Ahmed Hussen, minister of Families, Children and Social Development, in a prepared statement. “Many communities across Canada are already advancing the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. By fostering partnerships through the SDG Funding Program, the Government of Canada is accelerating progress on the SDGs and delivering better outcomes for all Canadians, leaving no one behind.”
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a 15-year global framework adopted by Canada and all other 192 United Nations Member States in 2015. At its core are 17 SDGs, 169 targets and more than 230 indicators that encompass the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.
The SDG Funding Program is a federal grants and contributions program that supports the work of Canadian organizations advancing the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda in Canada.
