MONTREAL—Traffic limped to a standstill at Beaver Hall Hill and Viger Avenue in central Montreal Dec. 5 as wintry conditions and black ice prompted vehicle after vehicle to slide helplessly down the hill, causing successive slow-motion crashes.
A police car, two city buses and a salt truck all fell victim to the slippery slope as a late begins winter begins to descend on eastern Canada.
