ST. CLOUD, Minn.—New Flyer Industries Inc. announced Oct. 3 that its U.S. subsidiary, New Flyer of America Inc., has won a contract from the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) to provide 140 clean diesel buses for service in Baltimore.

The forty-foot Xcelsior buses will be deployed on MTA’s BaltimoreLink starting in 2018, supporting routes that move more than 7 million people per month.

“We are proud to again support the Maryland Transit Administration with more transit buses. Since 2004, New Flyer has built over 795 buses for MTA, of which 383 have been our industry leading Xcelsior model,” said Wayne Joseph, president of New Flyer of America.

New Flyer announced plans last month to bolster its U.S. manufacturing capabilities with a US$25 million investment in its Anniston, Alabama campus.
