PotashCorp considering buying Germany’s K+S

Companies weighing possible multi-billion dollar acquisition

FRANKFURT—Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan is considering making a bid for German potash company, K+S .

Europe’s largest fertilizer producer said Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. has informed the company’s board of executive directors and the supervisory board that depending on certain conditions, it may make K+S an offer. K+S said the deal would be for all outstanding shareholder shares, by way of public takeover and would hinge on certain conditions, including due diligence.

K+S said it is currently assessing the available options and that the process is still ongoing.

K+S is valued at 5.6 euros, while PotashCorp, the largest fertilizer company in the world has a market cap of nearly $33-billion. K+S has recently moved into Canada and is developing the Legacy Project potash mine near Moose Jaw.
