Request for proposals open until May 27, according to Public Works and Government Services Canada

GATINEAU, Que.—The federal government has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a new fleet of medium-lift helicopters for the Canadian Coast Guard.

Firms will have until May 27, 2014, to submit bids to Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) for between four and eight helicopters that will be used for a variety of tasks, including personnel and cargo transfer between ship and shore and fisheries enforcement, by the Coast Guard and the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Bidders will be required to provide a value proposition as part of their bids.

The RFP is part of the federal Defence Procurement Strategy (DPS) announced earlier this month, and is part of a larger Coast Guard helicopter fleet renewal plan that will see PWGSC buy light- and medium-lift helicopters, polar helicopters and simulators for the light- and medium-lift helicopters.
