Bombardier wins share of $82M Barcelona rail network contract

Consortium to supply signalling system, 20 years of maintenance
MADRID—An Alstom-Bombardier consortium has won a 72.7 million euro, or US$81.9 million contract for a suburban rail network in Spain.
The two companies will supply the signalling system as well as 20 years of maintenance for a 56-kilometre line L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and MatarĂ³ in suburban Barcelona, Spain.
Alstom, which will install its radio-based Atlas 200 European Railway Traffic Management System Level 2 solution for the entire line, will take a $43.4 million share of the work. Bombardier will net $38.5 million and is responsible for the line’s electronic interlocking system.
The contract was awarded by Spain’s Administrator of Railway Infrastructure.
