SANTA MONICA, Calif.—Finding a quality used vehicle takes a lot of effort. The folks at Edmunds.com did some of the leg work in compiling this list of the top 15 best bets for a used vehicle.
Vehicles ranging from two to seven years old were judged against reliability, safety, value and availability.
The list includes 11 makes, with Ford, Honda, Hyundai and Toyota each contributing two models a piece.
The top vehicles, ordered by segment, include:
Compact Sedan: 2005-2010 Hyundai Elantra
Midsize Sedan: 2005-2010 Nissan Altima
Large Sedan: 2006-2010 Hyundai Azera
Coupe: 2005-2010 BMW 3 Series
Convertible: 2005-2010 Mazda Miata
Wagon: 2005-2010 Pontiac Vibe (a clone of the Toyota Matrix, which is assembled at Toyota’s Cambridge, Ont. plant.)
