DETROIT—A group of Canadian suppliers got the nod from General Motors this month as the automaker handed out its 21st annual Supplier of the Year awards in the Motor City.

Five Canadian firms, all headquartered in Ontario, were among the list of 83 suppliers to receive the award of excellence from GM.

“Suppliers play a critical role in our business and we’re thrilled to recognize those we consider to be world-class,” GM vice-president of global purchasing and supply chain Grace Lieblein said in a statement.

“Each winning company consistently exceeded our expectations by being innovative, delivering high quality products and services on time and by creating outstanding value.”

The Canadian winners include Bend All Automotive of North Dumfries, Ont.; Infasco Nut, of Mississauga, Ont.; MSB Plastics Manufacturing of Etobicoke, Ont.; and the Narmco Group of Windsor, Ont.

GM noted that the 83 recipients make up less than one per cent of its approximately 18,500 suppliers around the world.
