Next generation of automaker's highly-anticipated supercar will hit track before IndyCar race
MARKHAM, Ont.—Acura plans to run the prototype of its next-generation NSX supercar prior to next month’s Honda Indy 200 in Ohio.
The automaker announced the NSX will lap the road course at Mid-Ohio in Lexington, Ohio, Aug. 4 before the IndyCar series race hits the track.
Global development of the NSX, slated for launch in 2015, is being led by engineers at Honda R&D Americas, Inc. in Raymond, Ohio.
The NSX will be produced at a newly established Performance Manufacturing Center in nearby Marysville, Ohio.
According to Acura, the car will feature a mid-mounted V-6 engine mated to Acura’s innovative new three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system.
