Company delivers 11,580 vehicles in third quarter, eyes 50,000 by year's end

PALO ALTO, Calif.—A week after unveiling the company’s newest model, an electric 7-seat luxury SUV, Tesla has reported strong vehicle deliveries for the third-quarter of 2015.

The company delivered 11,580 Teslas in the third quarter, representing a 49 per cent increase over the same quarter last year and the company’s sixth consecutive quarterly gain.

Despite the growth, the company noted the deliveries are only one measure of its financial performance and should not be relied on as an indicator of its quarterly financial results.

The company added that it achieved the deliveries despite one week of planned production shutdown. It plans to deliver between 50,000 and 55,000 over 2015, a figure it revised down from 55,000 earlier this year.
