The 200,000 sq. ft. facility will boost the company's capacity for lightweight parts and help it add new products

LONDON, Ont.—Sodecia London has completed work on a new hot stamping facility not far from its existing production plant in London, Ont.

Sodecia London, the Canadian subsidiary of Portugal-based auto parts maker Sodecia Group, spent $30 million on the 200,000 sq. ft. site, which adds to the company’s footprint in the southwest Ontario city. Sodecia opened a new $45 million research and development centre in London last year and has operated another stamping plant there since 2010.

The new plant will boost the company’s Ontario capacity for lightweight parts as well as diversify its product lineup. It will also create 44 new jobs in London.

Ottawa’s FedDev Ontario contributed $3.5 million to the project, while the Ontario government kicked in an addition $1.5 million.
