VANCOUVER — Northstar Clean Technologies says it has continued to focus its efforts on ramping up production from a steady level to a commercial level at its Empire Pilot facility.

The company has also provided several other corporate updates regarding operations at its asphalt shingle reprocessing facility in Delta, BC.

Northstar’s Empower Pilot facility continues to operate in steady state production, reprocessing feedstock of asphalt shingles into liquid asphalt, aggregate and fibre. The company has worked to steadily increase the amount of shingle feedstock processed, and they expect to achieve production in the range of 50 to 75 tonnes per day by the end of the fourth quarter for 2022.

In other updates, the company has developed the internal capability for product testing, has carried out testing through third party laboratories and has worked with potential customers in the paving, shingle manufacturing, and roofing system manufacturing sectors to carry out product analysis.

Northstar has also continued the engineering design work on key elements of the Empower Calgary facility with long lead manufacturing partners. The company says it is incorporating partner feedback towards equipment, operating philosophy and processing integration of the Empower Pilot facility.

They have also recently completed the first shutdown with a second shutdown planned in the fourth quarter of 2022. Northstar says the shutdown has allowed the company to implement the lessons they have learned through process changes and adding or enhancing equipment to improve production and operating philosophy. The company anticipates it will increase production levels to a range of 50 to 75 tonnes per day following the next major shutdown.
