WINNIPEG—The City of Hamilton, Ont. has ordered 18 buses from heavy-duty transit bus manufacturer New Flyer Industries Inc.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the contract involves 60-foot Xcelsior compressed natural gas buses, New Flyer’s top-of-the-line model.
For nearly two decades New Flyer has built transit buses for Hamilton in a variety of models, bus lengths and propulsion systems ranging from diesel, diesel hybrid, and CNG.
The City of Hamilton operates more than 250 New Flyer buses, but this deal will be the city’s first Xcelsior models.
New Flyer makes heavy-duty transit buses in the United States and Canada, and its group of companies employs more than 3,000 workers in manufacturing, fabrication, parts distribution and service centers in both Canada and the U.S.
