Company continues to reel in orders from transit operators across U.S.

WINNIPEG—Bus manufacturer New Flyer Industries Inc. has won a firm order for 25 diesel-electric hybrid buses with the Utah Transit Authority.

Awarded to the Canadian company’s U.S. subsidiary, the contract includes the firm order as well as options for up to 10 more 60-foot Xcelsior buses—or a total of 70 equivalent units (EUs).

The buses will enter service in Salt Lake City over the next five years.

New Flyer did not release the value of the contract.

The order hit New Flyer’s books in November when the company reported its third-quarter results and project backlog. The Winnipeg-based manufacturer said it expects to deliver 3,500 EUs throughout its fiscal 2016, and has forecast deliveries of 3,650 EUs for 2017.
