MONTREAL—Protech Chemicals Ltd. has finalized its acquisition of NPA Coatings (NPAC) powder coating division, a subsidiary of Nippon Paints Japan.

NPAC is located in Cleveland, Ohio and its powder coating division has been in operation since 1991 under the name of Seibert Powder Coatings.

Montreal-based Protech will continue Siebert’s manufacturing operations in Cleveland.

“The acquisition of NPA’s powder business allows us to expand into new markets, particularly the automotive sector in which NPA is a leader,” said David Ades, managing director of Protech.

“The sale will allow NPAC to focus on growing its core business of manufacturing and selling automotive paint while creating additional value for its shareholder,” said Hidefumi Morita, president of NP-USA and CEO of NPAC

Privately-owned Protech develops, produces and markets thermoset and thermoplastic powder coatings with eight production facilities in the Americas and Europe.
