Melitron adopts eco-friendly pre-treatment technology

GUELPH — Melitron Corporation, a manufacturer of integrated metal enclosure systems for technology products, has adopted a new approach to pretreating metal that strengthens paint adhesion and corrosion protection and is also eco-friendly. The new technology uses more efficient processes that require less energy, water, and waste, and is phosphate-free.

The pretreatment, using zirconium, can be applied to steel, aluminum and zinc surfaces prior to powder coating. Zirconium pretreatments are ideal for metal products that have to withstand harsh environmental conditions and for added protection against extreme heat, cold, wind, water, and everyday wear and tear.

“We continue to invest in world class technologies like the new zirconium metal pretreatment solution to provide our customers with the ultimate in high performance products while minimizing our environmental impact,” said Mike Turner, President and CEO at Melitron. “It fits with our ongoing commitment to protecting the communities in which we live and work by preventing pollution, reducing waste and limiting our use of natural resources.”

All Melitron-manufactured finished products are now pretreated with zirconium for added durability, weatherproofing and longevity, growing the company’s portfolio to meet consumer demand for sustainability.
